Brief History of Grogan's Bluff

Our 126-acre development is named after the Grogan family — a pioneer Atlanta family who operated a ferry service across the Chattahoochee River. The property was developed by the Chicago based AMLI Realty Corporation. The company purchased the property from Billy Orkin, son of the founder of the Orkin Pest Control chain, now owned by Rollins, Inc. The tract includes 100 acres along Bull Sluice Lake, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, and was built around the natural landscape to protect the property, which is heavily wooded and somewhat hilly. Mountain laurels grow on the property, which make the land distinctive because laurel is not normally found this far south. Trees six inches in diameter and selected dogwoods were left intact during the construction of the property.
